All Photochromic Lenses Are Not the Same

If you don’t have a budget to afford several pairs of eyeglasses for different needs, transition lenses are ideal. These eyeglasses lens shades automatically change with the bright light. Usually, they are called light adaptive lenses. With these lenses, prescription safety glasses and sunglasses are equally combined with each other in one thing. You can get these lenses in different materials but all lenses have different shades vary to brands. All photochromic lenses are not the same, they have following types are there.







Photo gray lenses


These original photochromic lenses were invented thirty years ago. Those lenses now known as photo gray and photo brown are available now but not without their drawbacks. Its final tint depends on the prescription’s strength. Stronger prescription lenses are available with darker lenses.
If you are a multi corrected vision problem, then the weaker eye will get darker shade than other vision areas. You will notice the different shades that will find on the lenses. Corning is offering sun sensor lenses that are thin but less than glass and are lighter. Dark and thin lenses have an issue with color distortion but sun sensor lenses have completely solved this issue. Plastic sun sensor has solved color distortion easily for all strong prescription.


Transition lenses

Transition optical offers transition lenses that is one of the most resourceful photochromic lenses in the market. 3M safety glasses are providing transition lenses for all prescription number. The lenses are made from different materials like polycarbonate and plastic. They are also available for all prescription strength and design. Transition lenses very quickly turn into dark and light shades in lightning condition and also deliver 100% protection against UV rays.






Drivewear lenses

One other form of photochromic lenses is called Drivwear lenses. These lenses are specially designed for inside cars and for outside as well. They are, especially for a driving task. The UV rays trigger sun protection but these rays are blocked by car windshield. You can get transition lenses on all ANSI safety glasses.


These lenses react on visible light and are polarized that help to reduce glare. They are easily light adaptive and even protect eyes while sitting inside the cars.
